Avril Lavigne is to marry Chad Kroeger – an announcement that will undoubtedly set the internet ablaze with LOL.
The pair have been dating for six months, but both chose to keep the relationship under wraps. Probably because they are two of the most hated artists on the internet, particularly Kroeger, whose band, Nickelback, are the butt of endless online memes.
Chavril, ahem, first met in February, when they collaborated on a track for Lavigne’s forthcoming fifth album.
A source (oh, how we love sources) told People:
“A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together. He makes her so happy. Both of their families could not be more excited.”
This will not be the first time Lavigne has walked down the aisle.
In 2006, the “Sk8er Boi” singer married Sum 41′s Deryck Whibley, but the couple divorced in 2009.
In 2010, Lavigne started dating the reality TV star, Brody Jenner. But despite getting Jenner’s name tattooed beneath her right breast (facepalm), Lavigne ended the relationship in January.
Kroeger reportedly popped the question to Lavigne on August 8, complete with a big ol’ 14-carat diamond ring.
Nickelback have since tweeted the pair their well wishes:
