CHVRCHES debut video for ‘Recover’

Glaswegian synth-pop outfit CHVRCHES may have been tipped as one of the acts to watch in 2013. But it appears as though they don’t like being watched when it comes to their own videos.

The emotive promo for their last single, ‘The Mother We Share,’ focused almost entirely on a young toddler wandering around an American national park following the death of their mother.

And premiering today, the trio only make a blink-and-you’ll miss it appearance on a TV screen in the cinematic video for their current release, ‘Recover,’ which you can watch above.

Instead, the four-minute clip, which appears to be set in some kind of dystopian sci-fi world, concentrates on interspersing images of cubes falling to the ground and orbiting a desolate planet with shots of eerie abandoned factories.

It all looks visually stunning enough to be an out-take from ‘Blade Runner’ or ‘Prometheus,’ although it’s not exactly clear how exactly it ties in with the song itself.

The awkwardly-named three-piece, who placed fifth on the prestigious BBC Sound of 2013 poll earlier this year, released the track digitally last month. Whilst its accompanying E.P. of the same name is scheduled to arrive on March 25th.
