2011 was a great year for UK rap, and 2012 looks set to be even bigger with albums from Dizzee Rascal, Tinie Tempah and Tinchy Stryder expected.

But one MC that’s stayed largely off the mainstream radar is North London’s JME of Grime crew Boy Better Know, who’s kicking off the new year and generating quite a buzz with his zero-chorus, straight 96-bar song ’96 Fuckries’. The video’s shot all around London with JME on his own delivering his bars directly to the camera.

JME’s older brother, Skepta, had a successful year last year, having signed with major record label Universal after a string of strong independent album and single releases.

96 Fuckries hits iTunes on January 15th

Music lover of all genres, especially Grime. Often tuned into Rinse FM, but quite happy listening to anything from Nine Inch Nails to Girls Aloud to John Williams.
