He’s not quite up to the level of 50 Cent’s former gun-toting, drug-dealing antics yet, but Justin Bieber seems determined to prove his bad-boy credentials of late.
Just weeks after being accused of ‘roughing up’ a photographer outside a shopping centre, the 18-year-old Canadian was yesterday involved in a 100mph high-speed car chase with paparazzi photographers.
The cherub-faced teen idol may look like butter wouldn’t melt, but he rather carelessly appeared to be doing his best Lewis Hamilton impression as he weaved in and around traffic on Los Angeles’ 101 Freeway.
Driving the Fisker Karma that manager Scooter Braun presented him with on The Ellen Degeneres Show earlier this year, he was then stopped by California Highway Patrol officers, who awarded him with a speeding ticket, despite his protestations that he was being followed.
Bieber can perhaps consider himself lucky that the witness who made the initial call to the authorities, local councillor Dennis Zane, had retired from the police force, as he told Reuters he wouldn’t have been so lenient:
“This was very bizarre, very outrageous and showed a total disregard for life and property.
“The way [Bieber] was driving was totally reckless, I would have arrested him if I had pulled him over. I wouldn’t have given him a ticket and let him go.”
It’s not the first time that the ‘Boyfriend’ singer has had car trouble after his black Ferrari collided with a Honda Civic in a minor accident last year.
Perhaps Bieber should think about hiring a chauffeur!
