I hate to be the bearer of bad news but…the Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue reunion has been cancelled.
Must…hold back…the tears…
The Aussie pair were due to reunite on stage for the first time in 20 years at Hit Factory Live in London’s Hyde Park on Wednesday (July 11). But the concert has been cancelled as the outdoor venue is severely waterlogged.
The event’s promoter, Live Nation, announced the cancellation in a statement released earlier today (July 10):
“Following the severe and unprecedented weather conditions across the country the site was declared unfit this morning to host the concert. The decision was made following full consultation with all of the relevant authorities and the safety advisory group. The safety of our customers, performers and production crew is of utmost importance and the decision was made unanimously.”
The concert, which was celebrating the 25th anniversary of Pete Waterman’s PWL Records, was due to feature performances from Steps, Bananarama, Dead Or Alive, Rick Astley, Sinitta and more (really, who needs Glastonbury?).
Kylie expressed her disappointment at the cancellation on her website this afternoon:
“I am so sorry to hear that the concert tomorrow had to be cancelled. I feel for all the fans who had bought tickets to this special event. Jason and I were rehearsed and excited to share this moment with everyone.”
Meanwhile, Jason had this to say on Twitter:
To everyone who was heading to Hyde Park tomorrow ….. What can I say …. we are all extremely disappointed

Pete Waterman told the BBC the concert may be reorganized at some point in the future, but added “it’s not that easy,” as the acts have other commitments.
Now let’s all watch the “Especially for You” video and have a little cry. Why did they have to break up, WHY?!
