It appears that Lady Gaga and Madonna are in some kind of competition as to who can carry out the most shocking stunt during their respective tours.
After the Material Girl has caused controversy by brandishing guns, exposing her breasts and using an image of a swastika during her ongoing ‘MDNA’ tour, the natural heir to her Queen of Pop throne yet again appears to be doing her best to upstage her.
After upsetting the majority of the Far East with her attitudes towards sexuality, politics and religion, the 26-year-old has now taken to smoking cannabis live on stage during the Amsterdam date of her ‘Born This Way Ball’ tour. What. A. Rebel.
Appearing at the Ziggo Dome on Monday, the ‘Bad Romance’ singer then told the crowd that the marijuana leaf is the new peace sign, that she was going to talk to US President Barack Obama to get the drug legalised worldwide and that the Dutch capital was the appropriate place to discuss the matter because of its relaxed approach to marijuana, adding:
“I want you to know it has totally changed my life and I’ve really cut down on drinking. It has been a totally spiritual experience for me with my music. It’s like saying everybody needs to take a breath and it’s going to be okay.”
Hmm…as entertaining as Gaga’s antics have been in the past, this latest attention-seeking move doesn’t seem the wisest move considering how young some of her beloved Little Monsters are. What next, Madonna entering the stage armed with a crack pipe?
