Leona Lewis has revealed she recorded “We Found Love” before Rihanna got her hands on it!
The X Factor winner provided vocals for the Calvin Harris produced tune, but decided to drop it in favour of her new Emeli Sandé-penned single, “Trouble.”
Lewis told The Daily Star:
“I worked with Calvin and we recorded ‘We Found Love’. But he went touring with Rihanna and she ended up releasing it. I didn’t commit to it because I wanted ‘Trouble’ to be my first single so I think that was another reason they went with Rihanna.”
The interview then took a bitchy turn when Lewis said she thought her version was “better” than Rihanna’s! Ooh!
But we think Lewis is just jealous, after all, “We Found Love” was a #1 hit for RiRi in, oh, only 25 countries!
Lewis – whose third album, Glassheart, is out today – said she still had her version of the song, but we will never get to hear it. The tease:
“I still have the recording but I’d never leak it. That’s so unprofessional. There are so many songs I’ve recorded, only to hear other people singing them. It happens all the time. It was a bit annoying to see how big a hit it was around the world but if I’d released it maybe it wouldn’t have done as well.”
Meanwhile, The Daily Star also questioned the “Bleeding Love” singer on her rumoured relationship with One Direction’s Liam Payne:
“We are good friends, that’s all I’m saying. I don’t really talk about my relationships. Some One Direction fans can be ruthless but luckily I haven’t had any abuse.”
So we take that as “yes, we are dating,” then. Creepy age gap alert!
