Ne yo new album r.e.d 560x367 Ne Yo: Gaga won’t stand test of time.

Let’s hope Ne-Yo is prepared for an onslaught of abuse from the Little Monsters, for the usually inoffensive R&B ladies’ man has today questioned whether Lady Gaga has the ability to become a music icon.

The ‘Let Me Love You’ chart-topper, who has recently become the Senior Vice President of A&R at Motown Records, told the Daily Star that he’s not convinced of her longevity:

“Who was the last real icon to come out of the music industry? Everybody thought it was going to be Lady GaGa, but where is she right now, what’s going on with her?

Hmm. Considering Gaga has been virtually an ever-present on the charts since 2009, is currently in the midst of a 110-date world tour and is scheduled to release a new album early next year, it’s not quite clear why Ne-Yo appears to believe she’s suddenly become a recluse. Perhaps realising that he doesn’t want to make her army of fans too angry, he then continued:

“Not to take anything away from her because she’s ridiculously talented, but artists who stand the test of time – you just don’t see those anymore.”

Considering his career now seems to consist of little more than a string of Guetta-esque knock-offs, the phrase ‘pot, kettle, black’ springs to mind.
