Muse have announced that their new single will be the official song for the Olympics. The boys posted a statement on their official website:
“We are very excited that a Muse song, ‘Survival’, has been selected by the London Olympic committee to be the main official song for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Matt wrote the song with the Olympics in mind. It’s about total conviction and determination to win.”
The alternative Devon rockers are no strangers to success. They have an impressive array of awards from Kerrang, Q, MTV, NME, Ivor Novello and the Brits. Whoever is responsible for dusting their trophy cabinet certainly has their work cut out.
Earlier this month, the Supermassive Black Hole singers confirmed plans for a UK arena tour in the Autumn. The itinerary looks like this:
24th October – SECC, Glasgow
26th-27th October – 02 Arena, London
30th October – LG Arena, Birmingham
1st November – Manchester Arena, Manchester
