Snoop Dogg was recently banned from visiting Norway for two years after trying to enter the country with eight grams of marijuana last month. Something tells us he’s definitely been back on the ‘waccy baccy’ again following his latest grand claims.

Yes, hip-hop’s biggest weed advocate made Kanye West look like a shy and retiring wallflower during a New York press conference to promote his new record under the alias of Snoop Lion by comparing himself to the legendary Bob Marley:

“I didn’t know that until I went to the temple, where the High Priest asked me what my name was, and I said, ‘Snoop Dogg’. And he looked me in my eyes and said, ‘No more. You are the light; you are the lion’.”

“I have always said I was Bob Marley reincarnated. I feel I have always been a Rastafari. I just didn’t have my third eye open, but it’s wide open right now.”

Indeed, in one of the most bizarre musical reinventions since Robbie Williams’ ‘Rudebox,’ the West Coast rap veteran has traded the dogg for a lion and abandoned his usual stoner rap for a socially-conscious reggae sound produced by man of the moment, Diplo, a development which Snoop says was never intentional:

“On this particular project, I had no planning on going to Jamaica, making a reggae record. The spirit called me. And, you know, anytime the spirit calls you, you gotta know that it’s serious.

“I basically let them know what I want. It’s not that I want to become Snoop Dogg in a reggae track… I want to bury Snoop Dogg and become Snoop Lion.”

Listen to ‘La La La,’ the first release under his new moniker below, to make up your own mind over whether Snoop is somehow the second coming of Marley despite being born ten years before he died.
