Rumours about the Spice Girls performing at the Olympics closing ceremony have been circulating seemingly ever since London was awarded the Games back in 2005.
But their appearance at Sunday night’s event appears to have now been confirmed after several pictures of the girl group rehearsing at the glamorous location of a Dagenham Ford car plant were leaked in the press earlier today.
The 90s pop phenomenon, who were controversially omitted from the playlist celebrating British music during Danny Boyle’s opening ceremony, can be seen in several shots practicing a dance routine on top of five black cabs.
The group have previously teased fans about a possible reunion, first with Victoria Beckham tweeting a photo of the microphone she used on their 2007/08 world tour, and then with Mel B taking to the same social networking site to post a picture of several shoes alongside the comment:
Guess which shoe belongs to which spice girl!!!! yfrog.com/o099409787j

Other performers also spied at the same rehearsal space include George Michael, Annie Lennox, Jessie J, Queen guitarist Brian May and rather randomly, Monty Python comic Eric Idle.
If it’s even half as good and indeed half as bonkers as the opening ceremony, then the closing ceremony should be quite the spectacle.
