It appears to have been on the cards for months but a spokesman for Max George has confirmed today that The Wanted star has split from Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan.
The impossibly good-looking pair first hooked up in 2010 and announced their engagement just a year later. But cracks first started to show earlier this year when they revealed they had postponed any plans for marriage.
Their relationship was placed under further scrutiny this week after the Manchester singer was seen canoodling with a mystery blonde in a Newcastle club.
However, a representative for George attempted to play down reports he was playing away and rather ingeniously declared that in fact, he was the victim of a rather over-amorous fan.
“The Wanted have an incredibly passionate fan base. At times the fans can be over-eager when they meet them, especially in a club or bar environment.
“In this case, Max was approached and got slightly more than he bargained for.”
But just several days later, and the same spokesman, who must be getting rather used to drawing up statements about the boyband’s love lives by now, has revealed that their whirlwind romance has come to an end:
”He and Michelle are no longer together. They have been separated for a number of weeks, but hoped to keep this a private matter.”
If we were the type to use rubbish puns, we’d say Max is probably feeling at an ‘All Time Low’ or even more tenuously, that he now has a ‘Heart Vacancy.’
